C&LRKEN: Cadastre and land registry

The Cadastre and land registration knowledge exchange network facilitates the exchange of best practice to help members achieve our Vision for Cadastre and Land Registration in Europe 2012 (pdf, 0.1 MB).

Our experts in Cad&LR KEN:

  • create platforms for networking and sharing best practice;
  • work in partnership with other relevant bodies;
  • raise awareness of initiatives at European level; and
  • publish reports on issues in the field of land administration.

We focus on traditional and potential tasks relating to the traditional cadastre (documenting the property objects), the land register (documenting legal rights in properties) and investigate developments that affect these fields. We do not work on land-consolidation, valuation or land-use planning.

More information about European initiatives is available.

Our 2012 workplan

  • Publish a new vision for cadastre and land registry, in cooperation with the EU Permanent Committee on Cadastre (PCC), the European Land Registry Association (ELRA);
  • Sign a revised Memorandum of Understanding with the PCC;
  • Organise workshops on topical issues in partnership with the Presidencies of the PCC;
  • raise awareness of the contribution of cadastres to economic recover and other social issues.

During 2009-2010 three working groups of the Cad&LRKEN finished their tasks. These reports are available in Public reports. The working groups were:

  1. Information resource 2
  2. Impact of European legislation on the surveying professional
  3. The role of cadastres in INSPIRE

In addition we are working with the European Commission Joint Research Council on their survey on cadastral and land registry services
