The ABDS (Administrative Boundary Data Services) for the
CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) project is concerned
with the preparation and partial implementation of an on-line
delivery service for administrative boundary data. Whe developed
the service will include administrative boundaries data collected,
processed and delivered according to a defined data model
using new European and ISO standards.
The first part of the project aims to find out which administrative
boundary data exists in the nine countries involved in the
project - Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary,
Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Romania. The project then intends
to define a set of standard rules that any mapping authority
may use to generalise their data so that it looks the same.
Subsequently, an agreement will be developed that will define
how the data providers may contribute to the on-line delivery
service and how the benefits may be distributed.
An essential aspect is the support of the extension of the
SABE (Seamless Administrative
Boundary for Europe) dataset for CEEC countries which are
not yet SABE contributors.
