Reference Information Specifications for Europe (RISE), funded by the 6th Framework Programme, will be a core project under EuroSpec. It addresses more specifically the GMES data harmonisation action line, and relates also to the INSPIRE implementation rules.

The project team will develop guidelines for the creation of geospatial data implementation specifications, with a focus on water, elevation and land-use data themes.

The 1.3M € project started 1st of September 2005 and will finish in August 2007. RISE is coordinated by the EuroGeographics Head Office and is the first joint project of EuroGeographics with OGC-Europe, within a consortium of 5, including two NMCAs (BKG and Lantmäteriet) and an industrial partner (QinetiQ).
