EuroSpec is the major programme of EuroGeographics set up to deliver its new strategy agreed at its General Assembly of October 2004 in Athens.

It is the overarching structure to the many EuroGeographics activities contributing to implementing the vision of full interoperability of the Reference Information produced and distributed by the National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs).

EuroSpec is thus the collective contribution of the NMCAs to building the European Spatial Data Infrastructure (ESDI), in line with the concepts of the INSPIRE directive.

The EuroSpec Programme is articulated around the three main themes of:

• Technical interoperability
• Business interoperability
• Distributed services architecture
