The
Product
EuroRegionalMap
is a multi-functional topographic reference dataset at the
scale 1:250 000. It is seamless and harmonised data that is
produced in cooperation by the National Mapping and Cadastral
Agencies (NMCAs), using the official national databases.
Objectives
EuroRegionalMap
is designed for business use and enables to process comprehensive
spatial analysis, e.g. – transport and water networks
have full connectivity, administrative boundaries are topologically
consistent. The product well fits for the following applications:
marketing planning, service provision and retail site location,
environmental analysis, vehicle routing, map backdrop against
which to display specific information.

Content
The dataset contains following themes:
- administrative boundaries,
- hydrography,
- transport,
- settlements,
- vegetation,
- named locations
- miscellaneous(monuments, power lines, towers etc)

The 7 thematic
layers
* The administrative boundaries theme holds information on the administrative entities up to the lowest level and their administrative hierarchy. A unified coding system for all the administrative levels are included.

* The water network holds information on the watercourses like the name, the navigability and the width range and information on the open water area, the seaside and the associated hydrologic equipment (dams, locks). All watercourses form a connected network including fictitious connection through open water and underground.
* The transport network holds information on the roads and the railways, the ferry lines, the airports, and the harbours. Roads and railways are identified by their number or their code and form a connected network associated with punctual features like the railway stations, the parking places, the level crossings and the road interchanges.
* The settlement theme holds information on the built-up area and populated places mainly their name and the number of inhabitants.
* The vegetation and soil theme holds just few features like wood, orchard or sandy area.

* The named locations are just main text features of big geographic area that are not portrayed in vector data and fit for cartographic purpose only.
* The miscellaneous theme holds various topographic elements like power lines, landmarks, and buildings.
EuroRegionalMap Coverage:
The European Community of 27 Countries ( besides Bulgaria), plus Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Faeroe Islands and the Republic of Moldova.

Coordinates:
Geographical in degrees (longitude, latitude) with decimal
fraction and based on the ETRS 89 spatial reference system.
Standards:
Harmonized data specification synchronized with the FACC data
dictionary (DIGEST standard). The metadata is based on the
ISO 19115 standard.
Product types for supply: ERM will be supplied
on annual subscription by a group of the countries
and by themes.
