Congratulations Dr. Daniel Steudler, a new honorary member of FIG!

Sincere congratulations to Dr Daniel Steudler who has been named an honorary member of FIG, the International Federation of Surveyors.

Dr Steudler, from swisstopo, is Chair of our Cadastre and Land Registry Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN) a well-known expert for Cadastre and Land Registry and has been active in FIG for more than 20 years.

From 1994, Dr. Daniel Steudler worked as secretary to the FIG working group “Cadastre 2014”. Published in 1998, his co-authored publication "Cadastre 2014" on the vision of a future cadastre attracted worldwide attention and was translated into more than 25 languages. In later positions, he was the editor of the reports “Benchmarking Cadastral Systems”, “FLOSS in Cadastre and Land Registration”, “Spatially Enabled Societies” and “Cadastre 2014 and Beyond”. Since 2003, Daniel Steudler has been the official delegate representing the “Swiss Association for Geomatics and Land Management geosuisse” in FIG’s commission “Cadastre and Land Management” (Commission 7).

Fridolin Wicki, former head of the Swiss Federal Directorate of Cadastral Surveying and currently Director of swisstopo said: “On the international stage, he has an excellent reputation and is very well connected. I can hardly imagine a better Swiss ambassador for the licensed land surveyor profession."
