General Assembly 2006

10th November 2006

A total of 113 delegates from 42 of EuroGeographics’ member organisations, the National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) of Europe, attended this meeting, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The 3-day event was hosted by the Dutch Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency.

Discussions centred around issues like the position of EuroGeographics and its members towards the implementation of European initiatives like INSPIRE and GMES, but also the development of a Cadastre and Land Registry vision, as well as seeking partnerships with other pan-European organisations and the private sector to provide the European Commission and citizens with valuable geographic information.

Important decisions taken during the meeting were:

  • To increase active involvement in the implementation of the European INSPIRE directive
  • To increase contribution to and participation in the European GMES initiative
  • To develop a clear vision on Cadastre and Land Registration, seeking endorsement from the Permanent Committee on Cadastre (PCC) and the European Land Registry Agencies (ELRA)
  • To continue the EuroGeographics strategy and to support the work plan for 2007

During the General Assembly the current President, Mr. Zeljko Bacic from Croatia, was re-elected for another period of 2 years. Mr. Peter Laarakker was re-elected in the EuroGeographics Management Board.

The membership of the EuroGeographics Association was again enlarged as The State Service of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre, Ukraine changed from pending to active membership, and the Latvian Geospatial Information Agency and The Federation of Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, Bosnia and Herzegovina, were approved and welcomed as new Members.
