Zeljko Bacic new President of EuroGeographics

During the 5th General Assembly of EuroGeographics in Reykjavik, Iceland, 12th – 14th of September, 2005, Željko Bačić, Director General of the State Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Croatia, was appointed as the new President of EuroGeographics – the Association of Europe’s National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies.

Željko Bačić was born in 1961 and graduated at the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb. He received his PhD in 1997 in the field of kinematic GPS. Since 2002 he has been professor for Satellite Geodesy, introducing new forms of education for students and professionals in Croatia.

In 1999, he became the Director General of the State Geodetic Administration, working very closely with many other European sister organisations in the reorganisation of the cadastre and land registry in Croatia.

Željko Bačić joined the EuroGeographics Management Board in 2002 and is also active in the CELK advisory committee and a number of Croatian governmental bodies.
